We’ve gasped at the thrilling notion of Cindy Sherman and David Byrne dating. We’ve cooed over the adorable sight of Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer falling in love.

When I say ‘we’, I do of course mean ‘I’. But you’re with me, right? Yeah, course you are. You like a warm-hearted glow as much as the next blinkered optimist.

But there’s just one problem. We need a constant supply of doe-eyed arty lovers to keep us in vicarious grins. Love, sweet love… It’s the one thing that there’s just too little of.

So, with this in mind, let’s launch the ALL NEW! Postculturist campaign to promote inter-artist smoochery.

CELEBRITY LOVE MATCH 1: OWEN PALLETT (Final Fantasy) & PATRICK WOLF

Canadian Owen and British/Irish Patrick are friends already. They both play violin, are both appallingly talented and are both winsome hotties who drive the indie tweens wild. If this weren’t enough, they even bear a slight resemblance to one another.

I’ve thought for a while they’d make a wonderful couple. That was just about all I planned to say on the subject.

Then, while researching this halfwitted feature right here, I found this eyepopping information from an old 2006 article:

“Final Fantasy–a project that had started as a joke/tribute for boyfriend and fellow violinist Patrick Wolf when the couple were on the verge of breaking up…”

*sound of needle scratching across vinyl*

WHAT?! Owen and Patrick have already been together? You mean it wasn’t my idea?

Ah well. I can’t find any other written gossip to confirm or contradict this, so I’m none the wiser. Which rather knocks the wind out of my Cilla Black-esque sails.

Then again, Owen and Patrick are actually in happy relationships with other people anyway. Patrick can’t stop talking about his sweet William in recent interviews, and Owen’s boyfriend Patrick (! – Oh, not that one…) is also his manager.

Er… You know, I might have to re-think the entire thrust of my argument. What was the question again?
